Baby and children’s skin is more sensitive than adult skin as the body’s natural protection mechanisms have not yet fully developed, particularly in the early years of childhood. Children’s skin is paler and thinner as adult skin and therefore requires especially strong sun protection. But don’t forget: shade is the best sun protection!

Age group: 0 to 1 year

  • Avoid direct sun light
  • Stay indoors or in the shade, particularly around noon

Outdoors:

  • Stay in the shade whenever possible
  • Wear clothes that cover the shoulders, trousers, hat and sun glasses
  • Apply sun protection on exposed skin
  • Ensure that there is shade even when on the go

Age group: 1 to 6 year

  • Shade is preferable to sun light
  • Avoid the sun at noon, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., from May to August
  • Wear clothes that cover the shoulders, trousers, hat and sun glasses
  • Wear special UV protection textiles in and around water
  • Apply sun protection with a high to very high protection factor
  • Select products that protect against UVA and UVB rays
  • Apply liberally
  • Apply even waterproof products again after bathing or once they have rubbed off
